Britain has a wealth
of events, activities sports including classic
National sporting events and spectator sports
such as football, cricket, rugby, golf and tennis.
The football season
runs from August to May, and most football matches
are played at weekends. Generally major football
clubs sell tickets in advance, though for some
clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool, Manchester
United games will be sold out months in advance,
sou you need to buy tickets very early.
Main cricket is
played strictly between April and September and
tennis tournaments are held in England, although
rugby, is popular in Wales. There are golf courses
large and small everywhere in Britain, some famous
because of national and worldwide golf tournaments.
If boating is your
thing, the best known rowing and sailing regattas
take place in England.
For gamblers and
those who enjoy a bet or two, horseracing and
motor racing are extremely popular throughout
Britain, especially with the chance of making
a quick fortune through the bookies (bookmakers)
although we can now use online casinos for a quick
fix.
Non Sporting events
such as the Chelsea Flower Show, Ideal Home Exhibition,
Crufts Dog Show etc generally advise early booking
of tickets..
Burns night. 25th January.
A tribute to poet Rabbie Burns.
If
you get the opportunity to attend a burns night
celebration - go for it. Generally a gentlemen's
night to tradition has it that ladies serve the
men, and the men individually recite poems to
the ladies as a tribute, and the ladies respond
with their poem.
Lashings
of Haggis, with mask potato and turnips (tatty
n' neeps).Plenty of whisky to toast everyone and
everything!
Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race
From
Putney to Mortlake, great fun, probablt too cold
to take a picnic but get a viewing spot early
to beat the crowds. All vantage points, pubs,
restaurants and bridges are take very quickly.
